Relatives of two Trinidadian men killed in a U.S. missile strike have filed a lawsuit against the U.S. government, accusing them of wrongful death and extrajudicial killing. Chad Joseph, 26, and Rishi Samaroo, 41, were among 125 people killed in 36 strikes targeted at civilian boats since September 2025. The men were returning home from Venezuela when their boat was hit. The lawsuit is brought forward under the Death on the High Seas Act and the Alien Tort Statute. The strikes, according to the American Civil Liberties Union, are ‘manifestly unlawful.’ President Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth have publicly boasted about the strikes, but specific victims remain largely unknown.
