Families Affected by Earthquake in Herrera Aided by USA.

On Friday, November 6, the United States Ambassador to Panama, Kevin Marino Cabrera, visited communities in the province of Herrera that were affected by a recent earthquake. The visit was part of a U.S.-backed response effort to assess needs and deliver assistance. In the town of Borrola, Ambassador Cabrera joined Herrera Governor Elías Corro Cano and representatives of the National Aeronaval Service of Panama to distribute food donated by McDonald’s and backpacks supplied through the Humanitarian Assistance Program of the United States Southern Command. The backpacks were given to more than 100 children who had been impacted by the earthquake. The ambassador also toured U.S.-funded emergency shelters in Santa Maria, where families displaced by the quake are receiving temporary housing and essential supplies. During his visit, Cabrera met with officials from the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) and the National Air and Naval Service at the Herrera Operations Center to discuss shared priorities for response and recovery.
