**Family of Moldovan Ministry of Justice Employee Thanks Authorities for Repatriation Assistance**

Chişinău – The family of Gheorghe Gheorchiță, a 27‑year‑old employee of Moldova’s Ministry of Justice, has publicly thanked the government for the swift assistance that enabled the repatriation of his remains from Bulgaria.

Gheorchiță died after drowning in the Black Sea near the Bulgarian town of Ahtopol on 23 April 2024. Following the tragedy, the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice coordinated the transport of his body back to the Republic of Moldova. In a statement posted on social media, his relatives expressed gratitude for the “humanity, understanding and support” provided by the authorities during what they described as an “extremely painful” period.

> “In these difficult moments, when the pain of loss is overwhelming, your support and involvement have meant a great deal to our family. Thank you for your humanity, understanding, and for standing by us in such a painful time,” the family wrote.

The family had previously issued an appeal for help with the costs associated with the repatriation. They indicated that donations collected would be directed to cover the expenses incurred by the bereaved relatives.

> “All the money gathered through the support offered will be directed to the grieving family to help them get through this difficult period and to cover necessary expenses. May God reward you for your help, kindness and humanity. May his soul rest in peace,” the message added.

The incident follows a separate drowning that claimed the life of Elena Triboi, an inspector with the Agency for the Recovery of Criminal Assets (ARBI) of the National Anti‑Corruption Center, also in the waters off Ahtopol earlier this year.

Both deaths have been reported by local media outlets, including *Știri.md*. No further details about the circumstances of the drownings have been released, and investigations are ongoing.
