**ExxonMobil Says Future Projects Will Reduce Guyana’s Oil Profit Share**
*Georgetown, Guyana – September 1, 2026* – In a statement reported by *Kaieteur News*, ExxonMobil told investors that the share of profits the Government of Guyana (GoG) receives from oil production is expected to decline as the company allocates earnings toward financing upcoming projects.
The comment follows the completion of seven oil development projects in the Stabroek Block, the offshore field operated by ExxonMobil in partnership with the GoG. According to the report, the revenue generated from these projects has been used to settle payments to ExxonMobil, which in turn has increased the proportion of profits retained by the GoG under the existing profit‑sharing arrangement.
The GoG has announced that it is consulting with external experts to assess the implications of the reduced profit share and to explore strategies for managing the country’s fiscal position as the oil sector evolves.
The article, authored by Davina Bagot, did not provide specific figures on the projected decline in profit share or details on the future projects slated for development. No further comment was obtained from ExxonMobil or the Government of Guyana at the time of publication.
