Escaped Murder Suspect Robby Khadoo Shot Dead by Police in Vistabella Operation

An intelligence-led operation by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) resulted in the death of escaped prisoner Robby Khadoo during a confrontation on July 31st, 2026. The operation, which spanned over seven hours, took place at Fabien Street in Vistabella and also led to the arrest of a woman for harbouring the fugitive.

Khadoo had been on the run since escaping custody at the Arima Hospital on July 3rd. He was facing serious charges, including murder, attempted murder, and wounding with intent. During the operation, officers from various units, including the Home Invasion Team and the Southern Divisional Task Force, systematically cleared the premises where Khadoo was hiding.

The confrontation turned deadly when Khadoo, who was armed with a .22 calibre revolver, refused to comply with police orders to surrender and instead engaged the officers. In accordance with the TTPS Use of Force Policy, officers discharged their firearms, injuring Khadoo. He was transported to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police recovered the firearm at the scene, and no officers were injured during the operation. The woman arrested remains in custody as investigations continue.

Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro praised the officers for their skillful execution of the operation, highlighting the importance of intelligence-led policing and inter-unit collaboration. He also issued a stern warning to the public against aiding fugitives, emphasizing that such actions threaten community safety and will be addressed with strict law enforcement measures.
