At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers acting on intelligence proceeded to Hilda Trace, Arouca, where they conducted covert surveillance on a galvanized structure along the roadway. During the operation, officers observed a man approaching the location and, based on prior intelligence and positive identification, executed a tactical intervention that resulted in his arrest.

The suspect was identified as Edinson Maltin Alcala Larosa, of Thomas Trace, Arouca. Subsequent enquiries confirmed that he was the individual who had escaped from the Immigration Detention Centre on Saturday, July 18, 2026. He was taken into police custody and remains detained as investigations continue.
