EPD intensifies security preparations for Undas

The Eastern Police District (EPD) has announced a heightened security deployment for the upcoming Undas holiday period, covering All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. Police personnel will be on duty from 30 October to 2 November to ensure public safety and convenience during the observances. Under the direction of EPD Director Police Brigadier General Roman Arugay, all units within the district are tasked with maintaining peace and order in cemeteries, columbaria, transport terminals, shopping malls, major thoroughfares, and other high‑traffic areas. The deployment will involve approximately 1,500 EPD officers stationed at five public cemeteries, nine private cemeteries, and five columbaria within the district’s jurisdiction. Additional anti‑criminality teams will secure major convergence points. A reactionary standby force of 350 personnel will be drawn from the city police stations of Pasig, Marikina, San Juan, and Mandaluyong, as well as the district headquarters and the district mobile force battalion. This unit will be ready for immediate deployment if needed. The operation will also include 2,000 civilian partners, force multipliers, and personnel from other agencies to assist with traffic management, crowd control, and public assistance. Police assistance desks will be set up in cemeteries and identified convergence areas to address public concerns and provide immediate help during emergencies. Additional security measures will include target‑hardening at vital installations, continuous foot and mobile patrols, and random inspections to enhance operational readiness, personnel accountability, and police visibility throughout the deployment period.
