A tragic fire incident has claimed the life of an elderly man in Las Cuevas along the North Coast Road. The blaze broke out in the early hours of July 15, 2025, at a home on Rincon Road. Reports indicate that the first fire tender dispatched to the scene suffered a mechanical failure just a street away, significantly delaying the response. A backup unit from the Wrightson Road Fire Headquarters eventually arrived hours later, but it was too late to save the man.
