A 79-year-old man from Blanchisseuse was the victim of a carjacking on the afternoon of March 2, 2026. The pensioner was seated in his parked Kia Soul near the Pillars on North Coast Road when he was approached by two men. The suspects, identified as wearing red T-shirts and shorts with plaited hairstyles, approached the vehicle from different sides. The man on the driver’s side demanded the elderly man’s keys, wallet and cellphone, while the second suspect appeared to be armed. Fearing for his life, the victim complied. The robbers then made their getaway, heading south along Saddle Road towards Maraval. Police investigations are ongoing.
