El 57 % de los uruguayos desaprueba la gestión de su presidente, Yamandú Orsi

A survey conducted by the consulting firm Cifra and published on Thursday shows that 57 % of Uruguayans disapprove of President Yamandú Orsi’s performance, while only 24 % approve. Thirteen percent of respondents expressed neither approval nor disapproval, and six percent declined to give an opinion. The poll also revealed a split between supporters of the ruling Frente Amplio and opposition voters. Among Frente Amplio voters, 50 % approve of the president’s management and 28 % disapprove. In contrast, 83 % of opposition voters hold a negative view of the government. Cifra tracked public perception of Orsi’s administration since he took office. Approval rose during 2025, reaching 43 % in September, before falling to a low of 20 % in June 2026. Approval then rebounded partially to 26 % and fell again to 24 % in October. “The October measurement shows stability: the proportion that disapproves remains at 57 % and the approval rate drops two points, from 26 % to 24 %. However, the change is so small that it falls within the margin of error of the two surveys,” the firm said. The study also distinguished between approval of the administration and personal sentiment toward the president. While 24 % approve of his administration, 41 % of respondents expressed sympathy for Orsi, compared with 47 % who expressed antipathy. Thus, more citizens hold a favorable personal view of the president than support his performance. Cifra concluded that October’s results indicate a stabilization of approval and disapproval levels after the fluctuations seen in earlier months. “The recovery seen in August has stalled, but it has not been replaced by the ‘free fall’ that occurred between February and June. If nothing changes, it is most likely that Orsi’s evaluation will remain at a similar level to today,” the survey noted.
