The Government has provided much-needed financial assistance to families in the San Juan/Laventille region through the Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services’ Disaster and Home Repair Relief Grant Distribution Ceremony.
Held at the Ministry’s Head Office in Port of Spain, the initiative saw eight households, representing a total of 29 beneficiaries, receive grant funding valued at $59,977.90. The funding is intended to assist families with recovery efforts and essential repairs to homes affected by hardship.
The Disaster and Home Repair Relief Grant is designed to help vulnerable citizens restore safe and secure living conditions while easing the financial burden associated with home repairs following unforeseen events.
The Ministry said the programme reflects the Government’s continued commitment to supporting individuals and families in need by providing practical assistance that promotes recovery, resilience and improved quality of life.
Officials noted that initiatives such as these play an important role in helping communities rebuild, ensuring vulnerable households have the resources needed to recover and create safer living environments for themselves and their families.
