Eight dead in crowd crush at packed Burundi evangelical service

A massive crowd crush at an evangelical service in Bujumbura on Saturday night has left at least eight people dead and nine others injured, authorities said. The incident occurred during a packed prayer meeting at a large venue, as worshippers surged forward, causing a deadly stampede. Emergency responders rushed to the scene to treat the injured and transport victims to hospitals. The cause of the crush is not yet clear, but investigations are underway. Religious gatherings in the region often draw large crowds, raising concerns about safety protocols and crowd control measures.
