Egypt’s telecom-operated mobile wallets recorded a significant increase in activity during the first half of 2026, with total transaction values reaching EGP 2.96 trillion. This figure represents a 56 percent increase compared to the EGP 1.90 trillion processed during the same period in 2025.
According to data released by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority, the volume of transactions also saw substantial growth, rising 62 percent year-on-year to reach 2.22 billion individual operations. The authority noted that the rate of transaction growth has continued to outpace the rate of new user adoption.
In terms of user base expansion, the number of registered mobile wallets in Egypt grew by 23 percent during the first half of the year.
