DPRK to make “powerful response” to hostile U.S. moves: spokesperson

**North Korea Says It Will Respond to Recent U.S. Actions**

*Pyongyang, August 27, 2026* — The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) announced that it will issue a “powerful response” to what it described as hostile moves by the United States that are affecting the security environment of the DPRK and the broader region.

The statement, relayed by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), quoted a spokesperson for the DPRK’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The spokesperson criticized the U.S. Department of State for a decision to sell “ultra‑modern tactical missiles” and related equipment, valued at approximately $125 million, to the Republic of Korea (South Korea).

The spokesperson also alleged that the United States is allocating “millions of dollars” to a “human‑rights smear campaign” aimed at shaping perceptions of the human‑rights situation in the DPRK and gathering information about the country.

“The DPRK is well aware of the reality that there always exists outsiders’ malignant attempt and threat to the DPRK’s security and its political stability, and will make a serious, immediate and powerful response to the hostile acts in different spheres,” the spokesperson said.

The KCNA report did not provide further details on the nature or timing of any prospective response. No official comment was received from the United States regarding the DPRK’s statement.
