Dozens of UK cyclosporiasis victims had vacationed at Riviera Maya resorts

Health officials in Mexico have reported that dozens of individuals from the United Kingdom who contracted cyclosporiasis, a parasitic infection, had recently vacationed at resorts in the Riviera Maya region.

According to health officials, it is not possible to assume a cause-and-effect relationship between the cases and the resorts at this time. Additionally, they note that the 33 reported cases of cyclosporiasis in Mexico do not constitute a significant outbreak.

As a precautionary measure, inspectors are collecting food and beverage samples from establishments along the Quintana Roo coast, where the Riviera Maya is located, to investigate potential sources of the infection.
