Dominica Nurses Association marks 69 years of service to healthcare

**Dominica Nurses Association Celebrates 69 Years of Service**

*Roseau, Dominica – August 28, 2026* – The Dominica Nurses Association (DNA) marked its 69th anniversary this week, commemorating nearly seven decades of involvement in the island’s health‑care system. Founded in 1957, the professional body has long served as a representative voice for nurses, a conduit for patient advocacy, and a partner in community health initiatives across Dominica.

During the celebration, DNA officials highlighted the organization’s evolution from a modest group of practitioners to a nationwide network that supports continuing education, influences health policy, and coordinates responses to public‑health challenges. The association’s milestones include participation in national health campaigns, contributions to nursing standards, and collaboration with the Ministry of Health on workforce development.

“Over the past 69 years, our members have been on the front lines of care, from rural clinics to the capital’s hospitals,” said a DNA spokesperson at the event. “We remain committed to advancing the nursing profession and ensuring that every Dominican has access to quality health services.”

The anniversary observance also served as an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication of current and former nurses who have served the community, as well as to reaffirm the association’s goals for the coming years—particularly in strengthening training programs, expanding public‑health outreach, and advocating for improved working conditions for nursing staff.

The Dominica Nurses Association’s celebration underscores its enduring role in the nation’s health sector and its continued focus on both patient care and professional development.
