Dominica, in partnership with the United States, has signed a new agreement to facilitate the relocation of third-country refugees, as announced by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit. The agreement is designed to aid individuals who the US cannot return to their countries of birth or origin. The Prime Minister assured that stringent security measures are in place to prevent the relocation of violent individuals or potential threats to Dominica’s national sovereignty. The agreement signifies the importance of maintaining robust bilateral relations between Dominica and the US, with compromise and mutual understanding as key negotiation elements. Notably, the pact aims to protect Dominica’s citizens by ensuring lawful travel, education, employment opportunities, and family ties. Prime Minister Skerrit reiterated that the agreement would reinforce the enduring relationship between both countries and prove Dominica as a reliable regional ally.
