DNA Paternity Tests Show Mixed Results in Trinidad & Tobago

Between January 2020 and September 2025, a total of 440 DNA paternity tests were processed in Trinidad & Tobago according to a report delivered to Rhondall Fee­les, President of the Single Fathers Association T&T. 67.5% of these tests confirmed paternity while 32.5% did not. The tests were divided into Peace of Mind (Non-Legal DNA Tests) and Legal Tests (Court-Ordered or Official Use). Out of the 358 Peace of Mind tests, 66.76% confirmed paternity and 33.24% did not. Of the 82 Legal Tests, 70.73% confirmed paternity, and 29.27% did not. The report also highlighted that approximately 1 in every 3 DNA tests resulted in paternity not being confirmed. Legal cases showed a slightly higher confirmation rate than peace-of-mind cases.
