Djibouti Backs Saudi Arabia, Warns of Rising Red Sea Tensions

The Republic of Djibouti issued a forceful statement on July 23, 2026, condemning recent remarks directed against its ‘brotherly country’ Saudi Arabia and alerting the international community to the growing risks of escalation in the Red Sea.

In the statement, Djibouti reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and praised the kingdom’s ‘positive and central role’ in bolstering regional security, supporting political solutions to conflicts, and promoting dialogue among nations.

The Djiboutian government described ongoing attacks on international maritime navigation in the Red Sea as ‘a most serious threat’ to regional security and stability. It warned that such actions compromise freedom of navigation and international trade, directly harming the interests of the region’s peoples and states.

‘This situation requires concerted regional and international efforts to preserve the security of vital maritime routes and guarantee their safety,’ the government said, calling for a unified response to de-escalate tensions.
