Director José Andújar, head of the Provincial Development Directorate, oversaw the first paving of two new type‑I police stations in La Vega province. The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen citizen security and improve surveillance infrastructure. The first station will be built in the Sabana Rey section of the municipal district of Ranchito. The 165.40‑square‑meter facility will include a reception area, complaint‑handling offices, a Criminal Investigation Department (DICRIM), police dormitories, a waiting room, a weapons depot, and separate detention areas for men and women. The project, costing RD$21,226,703.40, is expected to serve approximately 5,000 residents of Sabana Rey, a community that currently lacks a police station. The second station will be constructed in the community of El Pino. It will have the same 165.40‑square‑meter footprint and similar facilities, including reception, administrative offices, DICRIM, dormitories, a weapons depot, and gender‑separated detention spaces. The new station is projected to benefit around 2,500 inhabitants of El Pino and its surroundings, who presently do not have adequate police infrastructure. Both projects aim to enhance the National Police’s response capacity, improve working conditions for officers, and contribute to the prevention of crime in the region.
