A 52-year-old man from Diego Martin has reported the theft of his dinghy and engine from a docking area in Chaguaramas. The incident occurred at the Trinidad and Tobago Sailing Association compound, where the victim had secured his 12-foot diving dinghy on the afternoon of Saturday, 11th April 2026.
Equipped with a black Hangkai 18-horsepower engine, the dinghy was left at a floating jetty. When the victim returned the following day, around 1:00 p.m., he discovered that his vessel was missing. He stated to investigators that he had not given anyone permission to remove the boat.
The total value of the stolen items is substantial, with the dinghy estimated at approximately $22,000 TTD and the engine at around $18,000 TTD. This theft has raised concerns among local boat owners regarding security at the docking area.
The report was filed with police officers PC Espinoza and PC Phillip, who promptly visited the scene to gather information. Authorities are actively investigating the incident to recover the stolen property and apprehend those responsible.
