Viking Ding Dong Reveals 40-Pound Weight Loss and Diet Behind His Transformation
Soca artist Viking Ding Dong has opened up about his weight-loss journey, revealing that he has shed approximately 40 pounds while making major changes to his diet and daily routine.
Speaking during a recent interview, Ding Dong described the process as much more than a physical transformation, saying weight loss has also been a mental challenge that requires discipline and consistency. He said he previously weighed close to 297 pounds before beginning to make changes to his lifestyle.
The entertainer explained that one of the difficult parts of the process is having access to almost any type of food but still making the conscious decision to choose healthier options. He said his current diet includes foods such as sweet potato, peas, vegetables, chicken breast and lean beef, while also cutting back on juice and other items that could interfere with his progress.
Ding Dong said travelling has also affected his routine. He recalled a recent trip to Japan, explaining that the major change in time zones disrupted his sleeping and eating schedule and affected his energy levels.
According to the performer, it took him about a week after returning to begin getting himself back into his normal programme.
He also spoke about reaching what he described as a weight-loss plateau, where progress began slowing despite continuing his routine.
To push through that stage, Ding Dong said he began adjusting his programme, incorporating protein shakes, creatine and pre-workout supplements while also walking in the evenings and attempting to avoid eating after 6 p.m., particularly carbohydrates.
The soca entertainer acknowledged that maintaining the discipline can be difficult, particularly after sticking to a strict diet for several days, but said he continues working to get himself back on track whenever his routine is disrupted.
His revelation gives fans a closer look at the lifestyle changes taking place away from the stage as he balances his entertainment career, international travel and personal fitness goals.
