The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) hosted a felicitation ceremony at the District Library Auditorium in Haflong on Saturday to honor local students who achieved success in competitive examinations. The event recognized candidates who qualified for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the National Institutes of Technology (NIT), and the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).
During the ceremony, 25 NEET qualifiers and three NIT candidates were presented with a financial grant of Rs 20,000 each. Additionally, individuals who recently secured appointments to government departments through the APSC examination were formally recognized for their accomplishments.
The event also served as the official launch of a new scholarship scheme designed to support students from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families within the Dima Hasao district. Under this initiative, financial assistance is awarded based on academic performance, with students receiving Rs 20,000 for a first-division result, Rs 15,000 for a second-division result, and Rs 10,000 for a third-division result.
