“Destination Canada” : le ministre du Travail au contact des candidats avant le TEF

**Djibouti – August 27, 2026**

Djiboutian candidates pre‑selected for the “Destination Canada” program are preparing for the French language assessment test (Test d’Évaluation de Français – TEF) that will determine their eligibility for professional mobility to Canada.

The Ministry of Labour, Formalisation and Social Protection, represented by Minister Yonis Ali Guedi, visited the National Agency for Employment and Professional Integration (ANEFIP) on Thursday. The visit coincided with a session of mock TEF examinations organized for the candidates. According to ministry officials, the purpose of the visit was to monitor the candidates’ preparation conditions and to gauge their proficiency levels ahead of the official test.

During the visit, Minister Guedi met with several candidates, inquired about the testing process, and urged them to continue their studies with “seriousness, diligence and determination.” He emphasized that strong French language skills are a critical component of the selection pathway, which includes multiple stages such as pre‑selection, linguistic testing, employer matching, and potential mobility procedures.

The “Destination Canada” initiative, part of the ministry’s broader policy to promote regular and structured professional mobility pathways, aims to align Djiboutian talent with labor market needs in Canada. Officials indicated that, beyond facilitating overseas employment, the program is intended to help young Djiboutians enhance their competencies, gain international experience, and build sustainable career trajectories.

The ministry has pledged to support candidates throughout the process, from initial pre‑selection through language assessments and onward to employer engagement and any required mobility arrangements.
