Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez presided over a military promotion ceremony on Thursday for officers and troops of the Presidential Honor Guard and the Directorate General of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM). The event was held at the Simón Bolívar Convention Center in Caracas. Defense Minister Gustavo González López, Presidential Honor Guard Commander Henry Navas Rumbos, DGCIM Director Eduardo Gómez Lárez, and other senior military officials attended. The ceremony included the awarding of the ‘Hero of Venezuela’ medal to the Presidential Honor Guard standard and a minute of silence honoring victims of the double earthquake that struck on June 24, 2026. Promotions were granted to personnel from the rank of Sergeant First to Colonel and Captain of Navy.
