Delcy Rodríguez, the interim president of Venezuela, announced on Thursday that Oliver Blanco will serve as the country’s new foreign minister. Blanco, who has been the deputy foreign minister for Europe and North America since February, replaces Félix Plasencia, who had held the foreign minister post since July. In a televised statement on Venezolana de Televisión, Rodríguez said that Plasencia will move to the Presidency’s International Affairs Directorate, where he will be tasked with recovering gold that is currently held at the Bank of England. The announcement was reported by the Spanish-language news agency EFE.
