Delayed Police Response May Have Cost Man’s Life

Jamal Arthur, a resident of Cashew Gardens, was found murdered at the National Reforestation and Watershed Rehabilitation Programme compound. The 37-year-old MTS groundsman was believed to be shot on Sunday evening while spending time with two other men from his community. A masked gunman reportedly emerged from nearby bushes, ordering the group not to move. Arthur and another man were separated from the group and the gunman shot 30-year-old fire service officer Kareem Reno. Arthur and the third man fled the scene. Arthur’s body was discovered the next morning. His father, Collin Arthur, expressed grief and frustration at the delayed police response, believing his son might have survived if found earlier. The murder count for this year currently stands at 334, compared to 564 for the same period last year.
