**Juan Mari Brás Foundation Defends Puerto Rican Citizenship Amid Legislative Proposal**

San Juan – The Juan Mari Brás Foundation publicly reaffirmed the validity of Puerto Rican citizenship on Tuesday, criticizing a recent resolution passed by the Puerto Rico House of Representatives.

The resolution, approved in the past few days, directs the Puerto Rico Department of State to cease issuing certificates of Puerto Rican citizenship. The foundation described the measure as a “desperate” attempt by the legislative body and warned that it could undermine the recognized status of Puerto Rican citizens.

In a statement released to the press, the Juan Mari Brás Foundation emphasized that Puerto Rican citizenship is constitutionally protected and that any effort to halt the issuance of citizenship certificates would be inconsistent with existing legal frameworks.

The foundation’s remarks were published on the news portal Claridad, which reported the development without providing additional details on the resolution’s legislative history or the specific arguments presented by its proponents.

No further comment was received from the House of Representatives or the Department of State of Puerto Rico at the time of publication.
