Abelardo De la Espriella Sworn in as President of Colombia
Abelardo De la Espriella was sworn in as the new President of Colombia on Friday. The 48-year-old lawyer, also known as “El Tigre”, assumed the office after a campaign that featured an anti-system discourse and promises to tackle the empowered narcotics trade. De la Espriella, who has been described as an outsider, reportedly received support from former US President Donald Trump. Prior to his entry into politics, De la Espriella lived a life of luxury in Italy.
