**Dasun Shanaka Sets Fastest CPL Century Record in Patriots’ 137-Run Victory**
**BASSETERRE, Saint Kitts and Nevis** – Dasun Shanaka set a new record for the fastest century in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) history on Thursday, powering the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to a 137-run victory over the St Lucia Kings.
Shanaka finished with an unbeaten 121 off 43 balls, reaching his century in just 39 deliveries. His innings included eight fours and 12 sixes. The performance helped the Patriots post a total of 235 for four after being sent in to bat.
The Patriots’ innings was bolstered by a 64-run contribution from Andre Fletcher and a 93-run partnership between Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga. Shanaka’s late-game surge included 28 runs in the final over, bowled by Keon Gaston.
In response, the St Lucia Kings were bowled out for 98 in 13.5 overs. The collapse was led by Jeremiah Louis, who recorded his maiden five-wicket haul in T20 cricket. Tim Seifert provided the only significant resistance for the Kings with a 36-ball 50, but the team struggled to build momentum after losing early wickets to Hasaranga and Louis.
The victory marks the largest margin of victory by runs in the Patriots’ CPL history. The result improves the Patriots’ net run rate from -0.547 to 0.593, keeping the team in contention for a playoff spot. Conversely, the St Lucia Kings’ net run rate dropped to -0.888 following the loss.
