In a bold daytime operation, police thwarted a robbery in Mayaro, arresting three men from Arima and recouping over $56,000 in stolen cash and a firearm. The heist took place at S&S Persad’s Supermarket compound along Guayaguayare Road, where a 40-year-old delivery driver was ambushed by two men of African descent. One of the assailants, armed with a revolver, assaulted the driver and demanded money. The victims pointed them to a stash of company cash worth $56,653, which they took. After the culprits fled in a Nissan Note, a chase was launched along the Manzanilla Road. The suspects’ vehicle was intercepted and all three men were apprehended. Found in their possession were the stolen money, the weapon, and clothing believed to have been worn during the crime. The men, the vehicle and the seized evidence were taken to the Mayaro Police Station for further investigation.
