SAN JUAN – The Department of Consumer Affairs (DACO) announced on Monday that it has launched a desk operation to investigate alleged increases in the retail price of liquefied gas following the circulation of images on social media. According to a statement posted on DACO’s social media accounts, the agency received “information of a series of images in social media related to possible increases in the retail price of liquefied gas.” In response, DACO said it has begun a verification process to determine the validity of the advertisements. “We have initiated a desk operation to verify the validity of these announcements,” the agency added. At this time, DACO has not confirmed whether any price increases have been implemented, nor has it provided details about the establishments or distributors involved in the images under review.
