The Finnish National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira) has closed the Plastic Surgery Center clinic located on Alexandersgatan in Helsinki following an unannounced inspection. The inspection, conducted on September 9 in coordination with other authorities, revealed significant deficiencies that officials stated posed a serious risk to patient safety.
According to Niina Oresmaa of Valvira, the investigation uncovered improper sterilization practices, noting that medical equipment was being cleaned by hand and in a standard dishwasher rather than through approved medical-grade sterilization processes. Authorities concluded that these operational failures severely compromised the safety of patients undergoing procedures at the facility.
The closure follows reports regarding the death of an influencer following a cosmetic procedure performed at the clinic. Valvira has cited these findings as the primary basis for the immediate suspension of the clinic’s operations.
