Czechia, the Land of Burgers. More Fast Food Chains Enter the Market

**Czech Fast‑Food Market Expands as New International Chains Arrive**

*Prague, Czech Republic –* The Czech Republic’s fast‑food sector is witnessing renewed growth, with established global brands extending their reach beyond Prague and a number of new entrants planning openings across the country.

**Established players broaden their footprint**
McDonald’s and KFC continue to add locations, focusing on retail parks and other peripheral sites that have become attractive venues for quick‑service restaurants. The trend reflects a shift from the traditional concentration in the capital to smaller regional towns.

**New entrants target the Czech market**
Germany’s Burgermeister, a Berlin‑based burger chain, announced plans to open its first Czech restaurant on Wenceslas Square in early 2025. The company has indicated that the Prague outlet could be the first of several locations nationwide.

American fast‑food operators are also expanding. Burger King, which entered the Czech market 18 years ago, now operates approximately 70 restaurants. Popeyes, which launched in the country more recently, opened 19 outlets within its first three years, signalling rapid growth.

**Expansion into smaller municipalities**
Both Burger King and Popeyes have established outlets in towns such as Králův Dvůr, a community of roughly 11,000 residents, illustrating the broader geographic spread of fast‑food services beyond major urban centres.

**Industry outlook**
Analysts note that the continued development of retail parks and the appetite of both existing and new brands for locations outside Prague are driving the sector’s expansion. The influx of brands from Germany, the United States and Poland suggests a competitive environment that could increase consumer choice and market dynamism.
