Cyclists Gear Up for 800km Race

Gaborone, Botswana – The Albert Milton Foundation, in partnership with Bomaid, will host an 800‑kilometre charity cycle ride from Jwaneng to Maun between 21 and 24 September. The event, known as AM640+, will be contested over four stages: Jwaneng to Kang, Kang to Ghanzi, Ghanzi to Toteng, and Toteng to Maun.

Chief rider Moraki Mokgosana, the chief executive officer of Bomaid, will lead the cycling team. Assistant Minister of Health Lawrence Ookeditse will join the riders for the first 20 kilometres on Monday, accompanied by three other CEOs representing the Foundation’s sponsors, according to Albertinah Milton, the Foundation’s chair.

“We ride for change, and more importantly, we ride to give back to the community,” Milton said in an interview. The Foundation plans to donate to a primary school in Charleshill along the Trans‑Kalahari Corridor, with an additional school donation in partnership with Mascom and Epiroc.

Bomaid’s corporate communications manager Tshepo Maphanyane explained that the ride aligns with the company’s focus on preventative health, community engagement and corporate social responsibility. “Through its involvement, Bomaid also seeks to use the ride as an opportunity to engage communities along the route on the value of movement and preventative health, while supporting the wider social purpose of the Albert Milton Foundation initiative,” Maphanyane said.

She added that Bomaid encourages customers to adopt healthier habits—such as regular movement, balanced nutrition and adequate sleep—as part of a broader strategy to support well‑being beyond access to healthcare.

AM640+ aims to combine a physical challenge with a tangible community impact, reinforcing the Foundation’s mission to give back through active living and charitable contributions.
