Dominica’s Chief Registrar, Magalie Celestine, has expressed support for the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) following the implementation of a pilot program for the Caribbean Targeted Education Certificate (CTEC). The initiative is designed to address persistent challenges regarding student performance in mathematics.
During a recent address, Celestine described the CTEC as a promising development in the regional education landscape. The program aims to provide an alternative pathway for students to achieve success in mathematics, moving beyond traditional assessment models to better support learners who have historically struggled with the subject.
The pilot program in Dominica is part of a broader effort by the CXC to refine educational outcomes across the Caribbean. Officials suggest that the CTEC framework offers a more targeted approach to curriculum delivery and student evaluation, potentially serving as a model for future educational reforms in the region.
