Court of Appeal Blocks House Arrest for Dominic Hadeed and Wife; Family Reunion Delayed

Hopes of businessman Dominic Hadeed and his wife Genevieve to be reunited with their children tonight have been dashed. In a late-night session, the Court of Appeal stayed an earlier High Court decision that would have ordered their immediate release from the Golden Grove Prison to house arrest.

The High Court ruling earlier today had granted the couple’s release, allowing them to await further proceedings under house arrest. However, the state successfully appealed, arguing that the matter required higher judicial scrutiny before any change in custody.

As a result, the Hadeeds will remain incarcerated for the foreseeable future, separated from their children. Their legal team had argued that the family’s reunification was urgent, citing the emotional toll on the children.

The case now moves to the Privy Council, which will determine the final outcome. No date or time has yet been set for the hearing, leaving the family in legal limbo.

Legal experts note that such stays are rare but not unprecedented in cases involving serious allegations. The Hadeeds’ detention has drawn public attention, with supporters calling for their release pending trial.
