Could multiply energy output

Orkuveitan is preparing to conduct experimental drilling at the Nesjavellir geothermal power station. The company plans to use a new drilling method that could enable geothermal energy production in areas that were previously considered unsuitable for power generation.

According to Orkuveitan, the new technique may allow individual wells to produce several times more power than current methods. If successful, the increased output could significantly boost Iceland’s overall energy supply.

Orkuveitan has not yet released detailed technical specifications or a timeline for the experimental drilling. The company’s announcement was made in a brief statement to the media.
