FAJARDO – Following the closure of several fast-food establishments operated by Encanto Restaurants, the Conexión Laboral Northeast Local Area has announced it is providing support and employment resources to affected staff. Luis A. Cruz Gerena, executive director of Conexión Laboral Northeast, stated that the organization is prepared to assist displaced workers in navigating the transition back into the labor market. “We know that the loss of a job represents a moment of uncertainty and concern, not only for the worker but also for their family,” Cruz Gerena said. “We want each of these people to know that they are not alone.” Through programs funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), the agency is offering services to those impacted by the layoffs. These resources include occupational assessments, resume preparation, job search assistance, interview workshops, and opportunities for professional training and skill development. To facilitate the transition, Conexión Laboral Northeast will host a recruitment fair on Monday, November 23, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Fajardo Multi-Use Center. The event is designed to connect former Encanto Restaurants employees and other displaced workers directly with employers currently seeking staff. “Each worker has talent, experience, and skills that can open doors to new opportunities,” said Cruz Gerena. “Our goal is to help them identify those strengths, connect them with employers who need personnel, and offer them the tools that will allow them to take the next step in their career.” In addition to the recruitment fair, affected individuals may visit the Conexión Laboral Northeast Single Management Center to receive personalized guidance and identify specific resources available to them. The agency emphasized that its services remain open to any individuals impacted by layoffs in the region.
