Concerns Over Service Disruptions at Roxborough Administrative Complex in Tobago

Concerns have emerged in Tobago regarding the availability of public services at the Roxborough Administrative Complex. A resident has claimed that services typically offered at the facility have been non-functional for approximately four months, sparking discussions on social media about the lack of public concern and the need for accountability.

The Roxborough Administrative Complex, commissioned in 2019 and opened in 2020, was developed to serve as a decentralized hub for government services, reducing the need for residents in eastern Tobago to travel to Scarborough. The $33 million facility was designed to accommodate several government agencies, including the Business Development Unit, Inland Revenue, and TTPOST.

While TG News has not independently verified the alleged service disruptions, the situation has become part of a broader political discourse, especially following the Tobago People’s Party’s recent electoral success. However, the delivery of public services should be evaluated independently of political affiliations.

The distinction between the complex’s infrastructure and the individual agencies operating within it is crucial. Any assessment should determine which services are affected, whether they are operational elsewhere, and which authority is responsible for addressing any disruptions.

Residents of East Tobago were promised easier access to government services through decentralization. Any prolonged interruption could lead to increased transportation costs and inconvenience. Authorities are urged to clarify which services are currently operational, identify any disruptions, and provide a timeline for restoration.

Ultimately, the focus should remain on ensuring that the Roxborough Administrative Complex fulfills its intended purpose of providing accessible government services to the community, beyond political debates and affiliations.
