Holguín, Cuba – On Sunday, the city of Holguín opened the XXI Ibero-American Congress of Thought, a significant event focused on the preservation of ancestral cultures, cultural heritage and regional spirituality. The congress is being held at the iconic La Periquera Provincial Museum as part of the 32nd edition of the Ibero-American Culture Festival. He highlighted the relevance of identity roots and reaffirmed the congress’s commitment to exploring and preserving ancestral cultures and their legacy. The program includes a variety of sessions. The theoretical sessions began with a keynote lecture by Dr. Armando Rangel Rivero, who presented research on anthropological expeditions in the eastern islands that traced aboriginal descendants from 1847 to 2022. Panel discussions covered the thought of Cuban national hero José Martí in the context of the upcoming 65th anniversary of Cuba’s Literacy Campaign. The event also addresses contemporary and future issues; debate commissions will discuss modernity and social equity, aiming to foster constructive dialogue and inclusive solutions to current challenges. Delegates and academics from various countries will participate until October 27, making the congress a vital meeting point for those interested in cultural preservation and intercultural dialogue.
