Colectivos de búsqueda de Sonora realizarán una jornada masiva en la presa El Comaquito de Ímuris el sábado 10 de octubre

On Saturday, October 10, a coordinated search operation will be carried out at the El Comaquito dam, located 27 kilometers east of the municipality of Ímuris in Sonora. The event will involve ten local search groups, as well as representatives from the Commission of Search of Sonora, the Agencia Ministerial de Investigación Criminal (AMIC), state and municipal police, the Mexican Army, firefighters, and divers. Ramona Guadalupe Ayala Ortiz, leader of the Nogales‑based group Buscando Corazones, announced that the operation will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a gathering at the Plaza Bicentenario in Ímuris. From there, participants will travel to the dam to conduct a “massive” search aimed at locating missing persons. Students from various universities in the border municipality are also expected to join the effort. According to information supplied by the Sonora search groups, there are indications that at least 100 people may have died in the area surrounding the dam. The groups participating in the operation include: Buscando Corazones Buscadoras de la Frontera Buscadoras por la Paz Buscadoras de Altar * Verdad y Justicia por Nuestros Desaparecidos Additional collaborators will be the following groups: Buscando a Jonas de Puerto Peñasco, Misioneras Buscadoras de Magdalena, Guerreras Buscadoras de Cajeme, Guaymas y Empalme, Familias Buscadoras de Trincheras, and Buscando Desaparecidos de Huatabampo. The operation is part of a broader effort to locate missing persons in the region and to identify any bodies that may have been left in the dam’s vicinity.
