CMO Approval To Be Removed From Building Permits

Government has approved plans to remove the requirement for County Medical Officer approval from the construction permitting process in Trinidad and Tobago.

The decision is aimed at reducing bureaucratic delays and improving the ease of doing business, with officials citing duplication of responsibilities among multiple agencies.

Authorities noted that approval timelines have been significantly impacted, with some applications taking up to eight months or longer due to outdated procedures.

Legislation is expected to be brought to Parliament to formalize the change, which is part of broader efforts to modernize the country’s development approval system.
