Public institutions in Guatemala have requested a total budget of 19.79 billion quetzales to address food insecurity and malnutrition for the year 2027. According to the proposed allocations, the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing (CIV) and the Ministry of Social Development (Mides) are set to receive 35.9 percent of these funds.
The requested budget aims to fund programs and initiatives designed to combat malnutrition and food instability across the country. The concentration of resources within these two specific ministries highlights the government’s current strategy for managing these public health and social welfare challenges in the upcoming fiscal period.
