A significant theft occurred at Micon Marketing Ltd in Laventille, where thieves made off with cigarettes valued at approximately $271,925. The incident took place on Tuesday, July 15th, between 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., as reported by a dispatch manager to the Barataria Police Station on the morning of Wednesday, July 16th. Three sales trucks—a blue Isuzu, a purple Mitsubishi, and a yellow Isuzu—were parked securely on the premises. However, upon arrival at 6:20 a.m. the next day, an employee found the rear doors of all three trucks open, with padlocks broken and strewn on the ground. A check revealed that a large quantity of assorted cigarettes was missing from the blue Isuzu and purple Mitsubishi, while the yellow Isuzu remained untouched and empty. Police from the Barataria district responded promptly, and crime scene investigators processed the vehicles, recovering a workable fingerprint from the rear door of the yellow truck. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the company and the surrounding Fernandes Compound, while investigations continue.
