Farley Augustine, Chief Secretary and leader of the Tobago People’s Party (TPP), was spotted at Tommy’s Brewing Company in Brentwood on Friday evening. His appearance came at a crucial time for island relations and followed his announcement earlier in the week about an upcoming meeting with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. The meeting was set to finalize a timeline for Tobago’s self-governance legislation.
At Tommy’s, known for its ‘Live on Tap’ sessions, Augustine was seen dressed in a sharp grey suit, appearing relaxed despite the high stakes. His visit to the popular gastropub coincided with his ongoing efforts to push for a consultative referendum on Tobago’s autonomy, currently proposed for mid-2026.
Observers note that Augustine’s visit comes in the wake of a busy week of briefings. The discussions were primarily centered on the recent departure of US Marines from Tobago and ongoing issues surrounding the MV Blue Wave Harmony cargo vessel.
Neither the Office of the Chief Secretary nor the TPP has issued a formal statement regarding Augustine’s visit. However, patrons at Tommy’s were quick to document the ‘Blue Tsunami’ leader’s crossing of the waters for his high-level engagements on this particular Friday.
