A woman from Charlieville, identified as Satie Samaroo, has been granted bail of $10,000 for charges related to Obtaining Goods by False Pretences. Appearing before a Master of the High Court, Samaroo faced two counts of the offense pertaining to goods worth TT$34,500 and TT$11,000 respectively. The case has been adjourned until June 24, 2026. The charges stem from an incident in January 2025 where Samaroo allegedly purchased two packages and 15 party tickets for a Carnival event from a San Fernando-based company using cheques from a closed account. Despite numerous attempts by the company to recuperate the payment, Samaroo failed to honor the debt, leading to legal intervention. Following a police operation in January 2026, Samaroo was arrested and charged.
