On Thursday, July 17th, 2025, two separate shooting incidents unfolded in Arima and Freeport, leaving victims shaken but alive. In Arima, the first incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at a livestock facility on the Eastern Main Road. A man was offloading manure when he noticed two suspicious individuals nearby. One suspect pointed an object at him, causing the victim to take cover just before hearing a loud explosion and the sound of breaking glass. The suspects fled the scene in a red station wagon, prompting an immediate police investigation. Later that night, around 11:40 p.m., a second shooting took place in Freeport. The victim had received a threatening phone call from a suspect, a Venezuelan national, who demanded information about his child. After refusing to comply, the victim heard gunfire outside his home. Upon investigation, he saw the suspect armed and fleeing on foot. Crime Scene Investigators recovered four spent 9mm casings at the scene. Both incidents remain under investigation as authorities work to identify the suspects and ensure community safety.
