CESAFI SEASON 26: SCSC Baby Warriors escape DBTC in thriller

The San Carlos School of Cebu (SCSC) Baby Warriors defeated the Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) Greywolves with a final score of 65-64 during a Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (Cesafi) Season 26 high school basketball game held Thursday, September 10, at the Cebu Coliseum.

The win marks the first victory of the season for the Baby Warriors, bringing their record to 1-1 following a winless campaign last year. The Greywolves now hold a 1-2 record.

DBTC initially established an 11-point lead early in the second period at 34-25. SCSC responded by taking a 37-35 lead into halftime and extended their advantage to 10 points, 54-44, during the second half. The Greywolves narrowed the gap to six points by the start of the fourth quarter.

With the score tied at 62 and 54.7 seconds remaining, SCSC player John Philip Sardido converted free throws to regain the lead. The Baby Warriors extended their advantage with a fastbreak layup, while Heath Lauren Macapil contributed four points in the final minutes. Despite outscoring SCSC 18-11 in the fourth quarter, DBTC was unable to secure the win after Christian Lambayan missed a layup attempt in the closing seconds.

Lance Luther Aballe and Macapil led the Baby Warriors with 13 points each, supported by Ahron Andrei Casul with 10 points. For the Greywolves, Zane Ondoy scored 14 points, followed by Antonio Joseph Issifu with 13 and Lambayan with 11.
