CEPEP Claims Misleading Information in Legal Dispute Over Contract Approvals

The ongoing legal dispute between CEPEP and Eastman Enterprises Ltd has escalated, with CEPEP’s attorneys alleging that the previous board was misled regarding the approval of 336 contract extensions until 2029. In documents submitted to the High Court on July 14, 2025, CEPEP’s legal team, led by Anand Ramlogan, asserted that no official Cabinet approval exists for these extensions, contradicting claims made to the former board. Eastman Enterprises is seeking a stay of proceedings due to a contractual arbitration clause. Affidavits from former CEO Keith Eddy and Head of Legal Nicole Gopaulsingh indicated they were assured Cabinet approval had been secured, but this was confirmed false by the Cabinet Secretariat and the Ministry of Public Utilities. CEPEP believes it was misled and plans to escalate the issue to the Fraud Squad and other authorities. The case is scheduled for a hearing by Justice Margaret Mohammed on July 18, with both parties represented by prominent legal figures.
